Delphi, an ancient Greek site praised by Homer and Pindar, Pliny and Plutarch, was regarded as the "navel of the earth" for centuries. People from all over Greece traveled there to seek counsel from the enigmatic Oracle and Sibyl, and great musicians and athletes participated in its Pythian Games. Delphi, which is dedicated to Apollo, the god of music, poetry, sun, medicine, light, and knowledge, is now a significant archaeological site with magnificent architectural remains of immense historical and cultural importance. Drawing inspiration from this, renowned Greek architect and designer Veta Stefanidou Tsoukala has created several luxury homes in the region that are renowned for their interplay of architectural scale and the subtle blend of influences, from ancient and rustic to sleek and modern. In this beautifully illustrated volume, Veta Stefanidou Tsoukala shares the inspirations that have informed her richly textured creations.
Veta Stefanidou Tsoukala, who is originally from Greece, pursued studies in archaeology and architecture at the University of Athens. She then began a career in interior design in London, where she worked closely with her mentor David Hicks. Today, her architecture and design practice draws on her diverse range of experiences. Her style, which she describes as "simple lines and the right details," is influenced by Greek architecture and the design principles she learned from Hicks. Tsoukala, with a team that includes her husband and daughter, has designed spaces in various locations such as London, New York, Paris, Monte Carlo, and naturally, Greece.
