Whiskey is more than a simple blend of water and fermented grain, having cultural, social, and historical significance. In The Impossible Collection of Whiskey, author Clay Risen explores the history of this iconic drink, featuring a selection of 100 of the world's most famous distilleries and their finest whiskeys. Risen's collection includes bottles not only for their exceptional flavor but also for rarity, age, flavor, and innovation. The bottles include both age-old makers and trailblazers of the craft distilling movement, from the best Scotch to Kentucky's finest Bourbon. The collection also includes bottles from countries with nascent whiskey markets such as India and the Czech Republic, along with American classics like Pappy Van Winkle and some of the rarest, most coveted bottles on the market. The book is a carefully crafted homage to whiskey as the "water of life" and a must-have for the library of any true whiskey connoisseur. The book is presented in a wrought-iron trimmed wood box modeled after an authentic whiskey barrel and is the most outstanding volume published to date by Assouline's bestselling Impossible Collection.
