About the Work

Michele Bönan, a celebrated Italian architect and interior designer, sees each of his creations as a script for a film, a dynamic and ironic narrative. Fascinated with architecture from the age of five, Bönan attended Florence’s Accademia di Belle Arti, which played a significant role in fostering his artistic freedom. Bönan’s first major breakthrough came at the age of twenty when a magazine published his work on the home of his tennis player friend Adriano Panatta, leading to further commissions from high-profile clients. Whether designing for private or public spaces, Bönan’s works, which range from hotels and restaurants to estates and yachts, all exhibit a virtuosic excellence that is unique to each project. While his style incorporates modern elements and luxuries, his hometown of Florence and its historical architecture always serve as a source of inspiration. Bönan's design philosophy is to prioritize the truth above all, and he does so by expertly translating his clients' desires into their ideal environment, infused with the Italian flair. This beautifully illustrated edition showcases Bönan's notable projects, including the J. K. Place Hotels in Capri, Rome, and Florence, the Hôtel Marquis Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, Palazzo Tornabuoni in Florence, Jagdgut Wachtelhof Hotel in Austria, and many others.

About the Author

Leonardo Ferragamo, the son of Salvatore Ferragamo, founder of the eponymous luxury company, started working for the family business at the age of twenty. In 1976, he established the shoes and men’s clothing and accessories departments and was responsible for the company’s international expansion in Europe, Asia, and South America. Ferragamo became CEO of Palazzo Feroni Finanziaria SpA in 2000, where he managed real estate and hospitality. He is also the founder and chairman of Associazione Partners Palazzo Strozzi, which collaborates with the city of Florence to promote cultural activities and the arts.

Cesare Cunaccia is a writer, lecturer, curator, and journalist who has worked as editor-at-large for Vogue Italia and L’Uomo Vogue, and as an antiques consultant for Architectural Digest Italy. He has contributed to Architectural Digest divisions in Germany, China, and Russia, as well as Connaissance des Arts, Opera magazine, and L’Oeil. Cunaccia has written several books on Italy's artistic heritage, which have been translated into twelve languages.
