About the Collection

Successió Miró collaborated with French porcelain manufacturer Bernardaud to make the work of Joan Miró accessible in unexpected ways. Following the table service created from the book Parler Seul, they have now released a collection of gifts featuring wood engravings from Paul Eluard’s book of poems, A toute épreuve. Miró once declared to publisher Gérald Cramer in 1949, "A book must be made with the accuracy and precision of a clockwork machine." It took eleven years for the A toute épreuve book to be completed, well after the poet Paul Éluard had passed away. In this collection, one can find Miró's unique pictorial language that he reinvents each time, whether in his paintings, ceramics, or engravings.

About the brand

Bernardaud has been synonymous with the entire art of Limoges porcelain since 1863, combining know-how and innovation, creativity and French tradition.

About the Manufacture

Depending on the style of the collection, the application of the decoration is more or less complex. Some valuable pieces are painted by hand and the craftsmen show exceptional dexterity in using a wide variety of brushes.

In most cases, a leaf decoration (decalcomania principle) is applied by hand on the white porcelain. It is dipped in water so as to detach the design from its paper backing and applied to the piece. The leaf decoration is produced by different printing processes, originally lithography, now silk-screen printing. The Bernardaud factory is one of the few in Limoges to have a printing works.
