Christofle has partnered with Junichi Hakose, an acclaimed Japanese lacquer and special craft artist, to create seven exceptional designs of the iconic MOOD collection, each in limited edition. Hakose's expertise in Makie techniques is evident in the delicacy and attention to detail of each piece. One of the designs features the chrysanthemum, the oldest flower motif in Japan, representing longevity and good fortune. The petals of the flowers are drawn with thousands of individual lines, giving them a three-dimensional feel. The overlapping patterns display the "beauty of subtraction," a characteristic of Japanese spatial aesthetics. The cutlery is adorned with gold and silver cherry blossoms on vermillion to create a relaxed expression. This unique, numbered piece, "1 of 6," is decorated with lacquer, 24K gold, silver, seashell, and pigment components and took 10 months to complete.
