24-piece flatware set with egg case - Dancing Phoenix 30 cm, "MOOD × Junichi Hakose", silverplated
- Order number: V112758
Christofle has announced a special collaboration with Junichi Hakose, an acclaimed Japanese lacquer and special craft artist known for his mastery of techniques and exceptional craftsmanship. Together, they have reimagined the iconic MOOD design, resulting in seven limited edition pieces, each one-of-a-kind.The designs feature the phoenix, a mystical bird revered in ancient China as one of the four auspicious beasts, along with the qilin, tortoise, and dragon. The phoenix is said to appear when a virtuous emperor arises and is associated with the paulownia tree, a sacred tree in which it is said to reside. The phoenixes in Hakose's designs are depicted dancing amongst a deep, jet black sky, with shells scattered below them to reflect the natural beauty of starlight. The wings are made from gold, silver, and palladium-colored shadows, and the light that spills from them is expressed three-dimensionally through scatting and dragon polishing. This unique, limited-edition piece is numbered "5 of 6" and took 10 months to complete. The chest is made from stainless steel and silver-plated flatware decorated with lacquer, 24K gold, silver (with palladium), seashell (Turbo marmoratus), and pigment component. The attention to detail is exquisite and the result is a truly exceptional work of art.
