Christofle has announced a special collaboration with Junichi Hakose, one of the most acclaimed Japanese lacquer and special craft artists known for his exceptional craftsmanship and mastery of techniques. Together, they have reimagined the iconic MOOD design, resulting in seven limited-edition pieces, each one truly unique.

One of Hakose's designs features the traditional Japanese "fortune treasures" pattern, which depicts various treasures to express auspicious omens. These include Daikokuten, one of the seven lucky gods, holding a magic hammer, and rare cloves introduced during the Heian period. The design also includes objects such as a weight, scrolls with Buddhist sutras and inherited secrets, an invisibility cloak and hat, a bag of money, and various lucky charms.

Hakose also wanted to depict future treasures, such as a crane with dramatic black wings, and lucky motifs like pine, bamboo, and plum. Serene gold lines tighten the bright and elegant vermillion pattern, while reddish gold leaf sparkles in the light, creating a showy impression. Reflections from blue, pink, and purple shells add to the celebratory treasure trove that expresses both present and future.

This unique, limited-edition piece is numbered "6 of 6" and took 10 months to complete. The chest is made from stainless steel and silver-plated flatware decorated with lacquer, 24K gold, silver (with palladium), seashell (Turbo marmoratus), and pigment component. The delicacy and attention to detail are exquisite, making this a truly exceptional work of art that will not be reproduced.
