Vase 24 cm, "Fazzoletto A Canne", indigo blue, crystal, orange
- Order number: V123143
The unique processing technique with glass rods gives it a precious colourfulness. The rods have been skilfully joined together, melted, blown and finished by hand. Fulvio Bianconi's genius is evident in the unmistakable shape, reminiscent of women's skirts fluttering in the wind. No two Fazzoletto a Canne (handkerchief made of rod glass) are alike in the world.
The Fazzoletto (handkerchief) collection was created by artist Fulvio Bianconi in 1948 and expanded over the years with contributions from other famous artists. The collection reflects the flowing movement of fabrics, similar to skirts, creating a bold yet elegant design.
The mista technique refers to the combination of several techniques used by the master to create objects of precious glass with a special character. The balanced mix of several techniques gives the work a strong character and enriches its identity.
Fulvio Bianconi lived in Milan and worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for publishers such as Mondadori, Bompiani and Garzanti. Alongside this, he devoted himself to his passion for glass and travelled to Murano several times in 1946 to learn more about glass art. Here he met Paolo Venini, whose creativity marked a turning point for VENINI. Bianconi constantly experimented with new techniques for working with glass and created iconic works such as the Figure della Commedia dell'Arte, Tiepolo, Fazzoletto, Sirene and Pezzati.. Paolo Venini, a Milanese lawyer with a family tradition of glassmaking, founded VENINI in 1921 with the antiquarian Giacomo Cappellin. The aim was to transform the classic craft of master glassmakers into an innovative art, and thus to appear at exhibitions such as the Milan Triennale, the Venice Biennale and in other countries. Venini promoted synergy between master craftsmen, designers and architects to give a precise identity to each model that came out of his furnaces. He himself dedicated himself to design since the 1930s, creating, among others, the Diamante glass and, in collaboration with Carlo Scarpa, the Murrine Romane. His aesthetic choices and the high quality of the products brought VENINI great success.
