With their work Zoe, Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas have created a bridge between the meaningful, ancient signs in the rocks of the desert and the Venice of 2014. The lamp is an example of the encounter between epochs, spaces and colours. The light of the lamp is mysterious in its veiling but generous in its diffusion. Zoe is available in the form of a pendant, wall lamp and table lamp.
The Zoe collection presents a lantern as a place of longings and dreams. The magic of the glass reflects, envelops and reveals, but only partially. It creates a mysterious light signal and represents a sign of upcoming events.
The Soffiato technique gets its name from the fact that craftsmen blow air into a long metal rod connected to the glass to stretch and shape it - a tradition in glassmaking that goes back thousands of years. The experience and skill of the master glassmakers, combined with this ancient process, transform simple glass into true artistic masterpieces, unique in their kind.
Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas run Atelier Fuksas, which operates internationally and has offices in Rome, Paris and Shenzhen. Massimiliano Fuksas was born in Rome in 1944 to Lithuanian parents and is an important representative of the contemporary architecture scene. He has taught as a visiting professor at numerous universities, including Columbia University in New York, the École Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris, the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. From 1998 to 2000, he was director of the 7th Venice International Architecture Exhibition, entitled Less Aesthetics, More Ethics. Since 2000, he has written the architecture column of the Italian weekly magazine "L'Espresso", founded by Bruno Zevi.
