About the Technique
The Sommerso technique makes it possible to obtain several superimposed layers of different colours starting from a blown or solid glass, creating a suggestive colouristic effect. In this process, the glass, which is attached to a rod, is immersed in crucibles containing glass of different colours. To increase the decorative effect between the layers of glass, the master glassmaker adds inclusions of gold leaf, other metals or air bubbles.
