The light sculptures by Ettore Sottsass carry the image of the Florentine iris, whether in small or large versions. Perfectly aligned ovals of glass are arranged along the metal rod and give the luminaire its unique coating. Firenze is available as a pendant and ceiling lamp.
With his Firenze collection, Ettore Sottsass attempts to capture the elegance, art and history of the Tuscan city in glass.
The mista technique refers to the combination of several techniques used by the master to create objects of precious glass with a special character. The balanced mix of several techniques gives the work a strong character and enriches its identity.
After graduating from the Politecnico in Turin in 1939, Ettore Sottsass devoted himself exclusively to the design of furniture, objects and ceramics and regularly participated in the Milan Triennale between 1947 and 1960. Since 1958, he has been a design consultant at Olivetti and has received numerous awards. In 1976, a retrospective was dedicated to him, organised by the International Design Centre in Berlin and later shown at the Venice Biennale and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. From 1988 until the last years of his life, he designed various lamps and objects for VENINI.
