Laura de Santillana has captured the season that precedes winter in the straw yellow and tea (petrol) glass made of murrina (murrina glass) and crystal. The leaves are turning yellow and orange, the forests are showing their glorious colours and the streets are leading into the new season. It is the autumn of 1976.
The Quattro stagioni collection tells of three hundred and sixty-five days, twelve months and four seasons. The collection holds life within itself, embodied in its circularity, colours and the tree it depicts.
The mista technique refers to the combination of several techniques used by the master to create objects of precious glass with a special character. The balanced mix of several techniques gives the work a strong character and enriches its identity.
Laura De Santillana has a classical degree and studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York in 1975-76. After her training, she worked as a graphic designer at Vignelli Associati. In 1976 she returned to Italy and began a collaboration with VENINI, during which she met many Italian and foreign artists. During this period, which lasted until 1985, Paolo Venini's niece experimented with various Murano techniques to create works with unusual colours. Her plates made of mosaic glass deserve special attention. De Santillana's works have won several awards and are represented in the world's most important museums.
