About the Collection
The Battuti/Canoe collection creates a unique effect that allows an attentive observer to glimpse calm seas, lakes and rivers through its transparency. One can immerse oneself in their stillness and emerge serene.
About the Technique
The Battuto technique of cold working puts the skill and delicacy of the master glassmaker to the test. The hammered glass is characterised by a surface shaped by hand with the grindstone, with countless small, seemingly irregular marks.
About the Designers
Tobia Scarpa graduated in architecture from the University of Venice in 1969 and has since worked in the fields of design, architecture and restoration. Together with Afra Bianchin, he created numerous works and also approached the world of glass when he joined VENINI in 1958. Throughout his career he has received several prizes and awards and some of his works are exhibited in the most prestigious museums worldwide. Since 2000, he has also been a teacher at the ClaDIS Faculty of Industrial Design in Venice.
