Giorgio Vigna has been inspired by the endless shapes and long stems of flowers to create this opulent creation, where explosions of colour dissolve into thousands of shades - both in the glass and in nature. This creation transforms the fleeting beauty of flowers into eternity.
Collection Fuochi boreali. In the alchemy of the fornace (glassmaker's workshop), the glass captures the changing colours of nature. They take the form of a vase to hold water in which fire flowers grow: creatures born from the passing of time and the seasons.
The mista technique refers to the combination of several techniques used by the master to create objects of precious glass with a special character. The balanced mix of several techniques gives the work a strong character and enriches its identity.
Giorgio Vigna was born in Verona in 1955 and completed his artistic training in his hometown, Venice, where he also worked with VENINI, as well as in Rome and Milan. In his works he creates natural forms on the border between reality and fantasy, showing strong primary and original aspects. His works include sculptures, jewellery, works on paper and installations that reflect the breadth and depth of his constant search for materials, which also includes glass and metals. In 2013, the Museo di Castelvecchio in Verona hosted his personal exhibition "Stati Naturali" (States of Nature), in which the artist presented the permanent installation in Acquaria glass he created for Carlo Scarpa's fountain.
