About the Work

Modern art has become the new intellectual currency, captivating the interest of media moguls, hedge-fund managers, and Hollywood luminaries, opening doors to an exclusive global enclave. Distinguished art dealers Philippe Ségalot and Franck Giraud have meticulously curated "The Impossible Collection of Art," an unparalleled assemblage of modern art where limitless possibilities take shape. Within this remarkable collection of 100 extraordinary artworks, ushered by Joachim Pissarro, one can explore a distinctive perspective on the artistic accomplishments of the 20th century, whether these treasures have been hidden away in the recesses of museum vaults or are poised for auction. In this second edition, Ségalot and Giraud have enriched the collection with eleven new masterpieces, igniting profound dialogues and beckoning art enthusiasts to conceive their own vision of an Impossible Collection.

About the author

Philippe Ségalot embarked on his career at Christie's in New York in 1996, initially serving as a specialist in contemporary art and later assuming the role of the company's international head of contemporary art. Franck Giraud, on the other hand, commenced his journey with Christie's in New York as a specialist in impressionist and modern art back in 1988. Eventually, he ascended to become the international head of impressionist and modern art at Christie's in 1996. In 2001, the two visionaries joined forces with their partner, Lionel Pissarro, to establish the art consultancy firm Giraud.Pissarro.Ségalot, which is based in New York and Paris. After Giraud's retirement in 2012, the company evolved into Ségalot LP, placing a strong emphasis on twentieth- and twenty-first-century art, under the leadership of Philippe Ségalot.

Joachim Pissarro, an esteemed art historian, holds the title of Professor Emeritus at Hunter College/CUNY. He is the co-author of the recent book "Aesthetics of the Margins/The Margins of Aesthetics: Wild Art Explained," co-written with David Carrier. Furthermore, he is a founding member of the Global Museums Strategies Group, alongside Philippe de Montebello and Jennifer Stockman.
