About the Article

Since 1968, DAUM has collaborated with the greatest artists to sculpt, interpret, imagine or dream femininity. From Dali's Venus de Milo to Marie-Paule Deville Chabrolle's Memoirs of Women to Lui Li Rong's Lyrical flights of fancy, art makes women its muse and transforms into works of art.

. The Daum archives describe the first artistic attempts on the theme of women with Almaric Walter between 1905 and 1912, but the real momentum only came from the 1960s onwards. The first collaborations were signed as early as 1968 with the work Torso by Jacqueline Badord, followed by Baigneuse by Jean Pierre Demarchi. 1969, La Ronde by Yehuda Neiman, 1972, Nus by Roy Adzak. 1976, Psyche by Claude Abeille, Draped Venus by Olivier Brice or Paloma by Paloma Picasso in 1972 and Eurydice by Maurice Legendre in 1976. Since then, more than 70 artists have interpreted the woman at Daum for an infinite sensuality.

About the Artist

Alain Choisnet, a self-taught sculptor, was born in 1962 in Fougères, France. Early on, his creativity was directed towards repurposing objects and sculpture. After exploring realistic forms using various materials, sometimes resulting in monumental sculptures, he has now transitioned to a more expressive figuration. Bronze, with its warmth and nobility, has become his preferred material for conveying emotional messages. His artistic approach aims to evoke notions of calmness and serenity in the viewer. Believing that femininity is the ideal medium for communicating these qualities, he seeks to present a soothing vision of women, blending modesty and sensuality. Alain Choisnet's sculptures celebrate feminine beauty, capturing a gesture, emotion, or attitude. Louison, crafted in soft pink "pâte de cristal," exudes a natural and youthful charm, evoking a unique emotion.
