About the Collection
The Clessidra collection was created to capture a small part of the cyclical nature of time and preserve it in glass for eternity. From the barely perceptible beat of the heart to the revolutions of the earth, all of human life is connected to time.
About the Technique
The Incalmo technique is one of the most complex processing techniques. It involves combining two hot-blown shapes around the circumference to create the evocative meeting of different areas, usually of different colours, in the same object.
About the Designers
In 1921, Paolo Venini, a Milanese lawyer with a long family tradition in glassmaking, founded the VENINI company with the antiquarian Giacomo Cappellin. Their aim was to transform the traditional craft of glassmaking into an innovative art, and it quickly became a protagonist of the Milan Triennale, the Venice Biennale and exhibitions throughout Europe and the USA. This was achieved through the collaboration between master craftsmen, designers and architects from all over the world, promoted by Venini himself, to anticipate and orientate tastes and give a precise identity to each model that came out of his kilns. Veninis himself dedicated himself to design from the early 1930s, creating the Diamante glass in 1936 and the Murrine Romane in collaboration with Carlo Scarpa. Through his self-confident aesthetic choices and the high quality of his products, his glassworks had a decisive and growing success.
