The Aquarama, a wooden speedboat designed by Carlo Riva, has become an iconic symbol of Italian design, and Assouline's book Riva Aquarama celebrates its 60th anniversary. The Aquarama's clean lines, mahogany, chrome details, and signature robin's egg-blue and cream upholstery evoke the la dolce vita optimism of early-1960s Italy. The Aquarama was adored by movie stars, heads of state, and royalty, including Brigitte Bardot, Elizabeth Taylor, Gunter Sachs, and the royal family of Monaco, among others. Of the approximately 760 completed Aquaramas made in the Sarnico shipyard, around 650 are still in existence, adding to its legendary status. In this tribute to the Aquarama, author Michael Verdon recounts the story of the legendary boat and its dolce vita charm. The book is also available in a special edition presented in a luxury mahogany box, expressing the beauty of the Aquarama's hull and offering owners, collectors, and enthusiasts a piece of the Riva dream.
