Embark on a journey to the heart of New York City with Assouline as your trusted companion. While this bustling megalopolis can often seem overwhelming, "New York Chic," captured through the lens of Oliver Pilcher, offers an intimate and authentic perspective beyond the typical stereotypes. Through everyday moments and candid portraits of its residents, this book unveils the true essence of the city.
"New York Chic" paints a vivid picture of the city's unique style and features a diverse array of New York icons, emerging creatives, and spaces that define the city. Fashion designer Zaldy Goco invites you into his creative sanctuary in the Financial District, while the late artist Françoise Gilot shares glimpses of her Upper West Side apartment. Nightlife impresario Omar Hernandez takes you on an unforgettable night at La Goulue, and José Parlá provides a tour of his Brooklyn studio.
Photographer Oliver Pilcher spent months capturing the soul of New York City through his lens, and the book also includes insights from artists, writers, designers, chefs, and others who have chosen to make this vibrant metropolis their home. "New York Chic" immerses you in the colorful, dynamic, and sometimes contradictory aesthetics of this city of dreams and endless possibilities.
