About the Author

Yaffa Assouline has been involved in the luxury and publishing industry for over 40 years as a journalist, consultant, and creative art director. Specializing in innovative and bespoke publishing, Yaffa was inspired to introduce Uzbekistan to the world, a country filled with immense beauty that is unknown to most. After spending over a year journeying from east to west, north to south, she captured the essence of the country and encountered unforgettable experiences along the way. The book is a taste of the culture, history, and beauty of Uzbekistan and an invitation to explore it with one’s own eyes.

Photographer Laziz Hamani, a long-time friend of Yaffa Assouline, accompanied her on this adventure as her partner and visual scribe. Born and living in Paris, Hamani, of Berber origin, has a talent for capturing intimate details and creating beautiful images. He has collaborated with prestigious luxury brands such as Dior, Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and designer Axel Vervoordt. With his unique simplicity, he aims to bring the viewer into a dialogue with the image, evoking power and beauty.
